about

By crafting enticing narratives with a pop sensibility, Erin Mulcair enchants the listener with the stories she tells. Hailing from Edmonton, AB, Mulcair is part of the thriving music scene there while also quite literally drawing upon the local community. “The most powerful way to tell a story and impact what’s going on,” she insists, “is by taking real personal experiences and then drawing on what I see that I want to fix and change.” By extrapolating on her own life and the lives of people around her, she is able to relate on a deeper level with her audiences.

Given to a deeply illustrative style of songwriting, Mulcair conjures images and scenes with a soulful voice that captures your attention and keeps you on the hook for more. Each song tells a story, and each story carries the audience through from beginning to end. By imagining herself in someone else’s position while she writes, she creates a more universal experience that resonates on a personal level.

After the birth of her child, Mulcair vowed to stop waiting around for inspiration to strike, and took time during maternity leave to record her debut album, Rise & Fall. Having written since she was a teen, she had a wealth of information and experience to draw on. Extracting lyrics from traumatic and triumphant moments in her life, she was finally able to bring her project to life with the recording expertise of engineer and producer Harry Gregg and bassist Farley Scott at the Audio Department in Edmonton.
